About RoomPlan.tools
RoomPlan.tools is a free floor plan drawing tool. You draw a room wall by wall, give each wall a real measurement, and get a scaled plan with every length labelled and the floor area worked out from the actual geometry.
It exists because the alternatives are heavier than the job usually needs. Measuring a room for flooring, checking whether a sofa fits, or sending a joiner a dimensioned sketch does not require a CAD package, an account, or a subscription.
How the editor works
A plan is a starting corner plus a chain of walls, each with a length and an angle. Corners are worked out from the chain rather than stored, which is why editing one wall’s length pushes the rest of the room along instead of breaking it apart. Every distance is held in millimetres, so the plan stays exact no matter which unit you choose to display.
Doors and windows attach to a wall as an offset and a width. The wall genuinely breaks around the opening rather than being drawn through it, and if you later shorten a wall the openings on it are refitted automatically.
Where your plans live
Plans are saved in your own browser’s local storage. They are not uploaded, there is no account system, and nobody else can see them — including us. The trade-off is that a plan is tied to the browser you drew it in: clearing site data removes it, and it will not appear on your other devices. Export a PNG if you need a copy that outlives the browser.
Accuracy
The plan is only as accurate as the measurements you type in. Areas and quantities shown anywhere on this site are estimates to help you plan and budget — check them against the room itself and against your supplier’s figures before ordering materials or committing to work.
